Approximately one cubic meter of American hardwood has been necessary to make the set of four pieces that make up this Family of tables. All the timber used in these four pieces would grow again in the U.S. forests in less than three seconds.
These tables have been designed to last, which will be possible thanks to the skill of the designers. Having a long life significantly mitigates the environmental effects of an object. The less often it is necessary to replace a particular product, the smaller the impact related to manufacturing it will incur.
In addition, objects designed and built to last have another environmental benefit as they supplement the function of the forests as carbon stores, helping to keep CO2 out of the atmosphere. The four projects resulting from The Workshop of Dreams, together, store 1.6 tons of CO2 equivalent.
